Glitter of modern life has covered us, i.e.., our souls from our vision. Rediscovering our identity will make it possible to acquire a proper perspective of life.
The basic principle of this modern civilization is wrong. Everyone, including the scientists, philosophers and politicians are thinking that “I am this body.” This basic principle of neglecting our spiritual identity is wrong. For example in a mathematical calculation, if we make a mistake at one point... all the subsequent calculations go wrong. The balance will never tally. Similarly, our present civilization has advanced but because the holistic or spiritual dimension is ignored, this advancement has not benefitted the world, but rather the opposite has happened.
Understanding the difference between our temporary material identity and our true spiritual identity is the key to solving all the issues that are plaguing our lives today . The foundation for a healthy life is laid by the science of consciousness that incorporates knowledge of the soul.
Clash of Civilizations
“Presently so many "ism's" are being developed according to the bodily conception—nationalism, communism, socialism, communalism and so on. In Calcutta during the 1947 Hindu-Muslim riots, there was more suffering because everyone was thinking, "I am a Hindu" or "I am a Muslim." But, if one is advanced in Krishna consciousness, he will not fight according to such conceptions. Because people are being educated to become more body conscious, their sufferings are increasing. If we reduce the bodily conception, suffering will also be reduced.” ~Srila Prabhupada
Ignorance of our real identity as spirit soul is costing us dearly. Bodily platform is a platform of conflict and dissension. The latest phase of evolution of conflict in the modern world is clash of civilizations.
World politics is entering a new phase, in which the great divisions among humankind and the dominating source of international conflict has become cultural. Civilizations - the highest cultural groupings of people-are differentiated from each other by religion, history, language and tradition. These divisions are increasing in importance. From Yugoslavia to the Middle East to Central Asia, the fault lines of civilizations are the battle lines of the future. The primary axis of conflict in the future would be along cultural and religious lines.
During the Cold War, the world was divided into the First, Second and Third Worlds. Those divisions are no longer relevant. It is far more meaningful now to group countries not in terms of their political or economic systems or in terms of their level of economic development but rather in terms of their culture and civilization.
But all these divisions are on the basis of skin. Everybody identifies with the body and therefore great divisions like white, black, colored, Hindu, Muslim etc. exist. We don’t realize that skin is just a covering for the body and body is just a temporary covering for the spirit soul.
